Where these prices come from

The Ukrainian figures are average filling-station prices published daily by index.minfin.com.ua using data from the A-95 consulting group. They are not the price at any one station but a market average — the number you plan a trip against before you set off.

European prices come from the European Commission's Weekly Oil Bulletin. It is published once a week and quotes prices in euro per 1,000 litres; we convert them to hryvnia per litre at the official NBU rate so the two sets of numbers can be compared directly.

How to use this page

Pick a fuel type in the cards at the top — the chart and both tables switch to it. In the cost block, enter your trip distance and fuel consumption: the page shows how many litres you will burn, what that costs, and the cost per kilometre.

From there you can move into a full calculator with the fuel price already filled in — no retyping.

Why the price at the pump differs from the average

The national average is almost always lower than what you see on the motorway. The reasons are familiar: premium networks price above the market, fuel is dearer in border and resort areas, and the cheapest offers often apply only with a loyalty card or in volume.

The station-network table shows that spread directly: the gap between the cheapest and the most expensive operator on diesel regularly exceeds 10 hryvnia per litre.

EU fuel: what to look at

Weekly Oil Bulletin prices are retail prices including all taxes — what drivers actually pay at the pump. The spread between countries is large and is explained almost entirely by excise duty and VAT rather than by the cost of the fuel itself.

For an international carrier that means something simple: plan the route so the bulk of your fuel is bought where it is cheaper. The "Difference vs Ukraine" column shows this at a glance — a negative figure means that country is cheaper than home.
